    LINCOLN, Neb. (KCAU) — Nebraska state lawmakers passed the $11 billion mainline budget for the next two years. Legislators voted 37 to 11 with 1 not voting on LB 261 with an emergency clause. The bill would appropriate funds for the biennium ending on June 30, 2027. State senators also voted 35 to 12 with 1 not voting on LB 264 with an emergency clause. The measure would provide, change, and get rid of transfers from the cash reserve fund to help balance the budget.

    SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — A class at Loess Hill Elementary got a taste of ‘Bob Roe’s Point After’ food thanks to one of their classmates. For an early brunch, the second-graders dinned on cheese and pepperoni pizza, french fries, and even wings. The delicious food comes as a celebration for Vincent Gomez, who received an honorable mention for his papier-mâché sculpture in the 2025 ArtWorks Show, where he sculpted Bob Roe’s chicken and fries.

    LINCOLN, Neb. (KCAU) — Wednesday was a big day for Nebraska legislature. The fate of many bills were determined in the third and final round of voting. State senators voted 48 to 1 on LB 140 with an emergency clause, which means the measure will take effect immediately if the governor chooses to sign the bill. The bill would ban students from using their personal electronic devices, such as cell phones, on school grounds or while at school instructional functions like a field trip.
