Former Seattle Mariners reliever Dan Altavilla has lost out on his chance to make the Chicago White Sox roster this season, getting released by the organization on Tuesday. The release comes as somewhat of a surprise since Altavilla put together a nice Cactus League campaign, going 0-1 with a 2.79 ERA in 10 games. He struck out 11 batters over 9.2 innings. Those numbers could be good enough for someone to take a flier on him.
