FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) — A home on North Fulton Street in Florence caught fire around 7:00 Sunday evening. Florence Fire Rescue received a call for a structure fire and responded. Deputy Chief Jarrod Wallace tells News 19 that when firefighters arrived at the home, they immediately noticed the fire had started from the carport. Wallace said the homeowners made it out safely, but firefighters were informed that there were three family pets still inside the home.

TUSCUMBIA, Ala. (WHNT) — Tuscumbia officials are still in the process of cleaning up tornado and storm damage from the last few months. It’s been well over two months since several EF1 tornadoes ripped through downtown Tuscumbia, and it’s been about three weeks since a tornado devastated a trailer park in Muscle Shoals. Cleanup is still underway in both communities.

Finding a safe place in Lauderdale County during severe weather may be hard for some people living in the area. EMA Director Brad Holmes tells News 19 that there aren’t many shelters in the area big enough to shelter residents.
