It was graduation day on Wednesday for the scholars at Saint Monica Early Learning Center in South Philadelphia. And it is a bittersweet farewell for a beloved educator. "Her gentle wisdom, deep faith and endless love have shaped the lives of generations of children," Sister Rosemary Peterson, the director of Saint Monica, said about Maria Colozzo. Colozzo has taught at Saint Monica since 1974. That's 51 years of the alphabet, numbers, singing, laughing, snow days, championships and so much heart.

A new affordable senior housing development at the corner of 9th and Vine streets will provide dozens of new housing units atop what was previously an underutilized surface parking lot in Philadelphia's Chinatown neighborhood. Several of the development's partners gathered on Tuesday including Pennrose and Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation to celebrate the opening of Man An House, a five-story midrise building that will house 51 units for residents 62 years and older.

Two hospitals were wiped out in a bankruptcy reorganization, leaving dozens of primary care physicians unemployed, their practices closed and thousands of patients without doctors. In a social media post, Washington Township police said people called 911 to report an explosion early Sunday morning. The Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office does not believe that what happened at the home on Tranquility Court was an accident.
