Like the Avant, the combustion-powered A6 Saloon is a big departure aesthetically from the cars they replace. While its front end has been given an extensive refresh – with the Audi rings straddling a new-look grille and bonnet lip, in a similar way to the E-tron GT – more generally, it is a bulkier and sportier proposition. Inside, the car gets the same three-screen set-up as the Avant and the new Q5, as well as a sunroof that can switch from translucent to clear via a press of a button.

UK factors recorded a 3.1% year-on-year drop in unit sales and a 3% decline in value for the first nine weeks of the year, in what has been described as a “difficult” start of 2025. The data, revealed by industry analysts Factor Sales, follows a period of growth for the sector in 2024, where value rose by 5.5% and units by 0.8%.

Land Rover is gearing up to launch a long-mooted and highly anticipated smaller entry level Defender as a crucial new model in its electric car portfolio. The rugged, compact 4x4 is rumoured to have been on the cards for several years but has never officially appeared in JLR’s product roadmap presentations. But Autocar spy photographers have spotted the model testing for the first time, confirming development is well under way and indicating it could arrive in dealerships as soon as 2027.

PartsInMotion will be returning to the BTCC (British Touring Car Championship) circuit for the 2025 season, as it confirms its sponsorship of the NAPA Racing UK team. The online parts distributor’s logo will be seen on the wing end plates of BTCC drivers Ash Sutton and Dan Rowbottom’s cars and in the same place on all of the Mini Challenge cars. The PartsInMotion logo will also be seen on the cant rail on BTCC drivers Sam Osbourne and Dan Cammish’s cars.
