Ferrari will reveal the first details of its long-awaited debut electric car on 9 October, ahead of a full unveiling next spring. CEO Benedetto Vigna, speaking during the company's first quarter results, confirmed that the EV's "technological heart" will be detailed at its Capital Markets Day as part of a three-step unveiling. This would suggest the first announcement will showcase the car's underpinning – most importantly its powertrain.

More than 2000 Jaguar I-Pace electric cars are set to be converted into autonomous taxis at a new factory in the US. The EVs will be converted in Arizona by manufacturer Magna as part of a push by Alphabet-owned autonomous vehicle firm Waymo to expand its services. Already completing more than 250,000 autonomous taxi trips each week in Austin, Los Angeles, Phoenix and San Francisco, Waymo now wants to expand to Atlanta, Miami and Washington DC from next year.

GSF Car Parts will stock Lucas-branded air-con compressors. The motor factor is the leading supplier of Lucas products in the UK, with a lineup that already includes the brand’s starter motors, alternators, turbo chargers, diesel fuel injectors and diesel pumps. The air-con compressor range will initially be 335 SKUs for a wide range of passenger car and LCV applications, before eventually rising to 500 SKUs to cover more than 85% of the UK car parc.

Audi has added a plug-in hybrid variant to its new A6 range, bringing up to 69 miles of electric-only driving. Joining the recently launched Audi A5 plug-in hybrid, it is one of 10 new PHEVs to be launched by the German brand across its line-up in 2025. The PHEV powertrain, which it shares with the A5, is centered around a 2.0-litre turbo petrol four and delivers 295bhp for a 0-62mph time of 6.0sec. It's exclusively sold in the UK in four-wheel-drive Quattro guise.
