Autocar is a British car magazine that comes out weekly, produced by Haymarket Motoring Publications Ltd. It made its debut in 1895 and proudly claims to be "The World's oldest car magazine." Today, it has several international versions available in countries like China, India, New Zealand, and South Africa.

It also had a car to complement the already legendary MX-5. The RX-8 was bigger, but the extra heft of its slinky bodyshell was partly offset by the low weight of the dinky little 1.3 litre rotary, which also lived well aft of the radiator, to the considerable benefit of the chassis balance. It was agile, stayed tidy when pressed and could drift, its predilection for dangling an angle part-limited by the rotary’s limited grunt.

Kia is committed to launching more hatchbacks and saloons, rather than going all in on SUVs, as it prepares the European launch of ICE-powered and electric hatchbacks to rival the Volkswagen Golf and ID 3. Speaking exclusively to Autocar, Kia executive vice-president Ted Lee said there was still “big volume” for hatchback models in Europe in particular, and he confirmed the firm would continue to offer them and indeed launch all-new family hatchback models.

Close The infotainment screen is a bit small on early cars, so if tech is a sticking point then a post-2019 facelift car will appeal more. It has a bigger, 10in screen, and while the menu icons are a bit small, you can pair your smartphone with it to use apps such as Waze and Spotify.

Not all dealers are happy, though. “It’s not our place to do this,” the owner of a used car dealership told Autocar. “To say we must ‘train’ customers to understand their car’s ADAS features could make us liable in the event that one of them has an accident. To also require us to do this at the car’s handover, when the customer has so much else to absorb, is unrealistic.”Fennell insists that members are only required to give guidance.
