SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) — Polls in San Jose open Tuesday at 7 a.m. as the city looks to fill its City Council District 3 seat. The seat was vacated in November 2024 when Omar Torres resigned amid child sexual assault allegations. District 3 covers parts of downtown San Jose and Japantown, which struggle with homelessness. There are at least five candidates who want the open council member seat, and all of them say they will try to tackle homelessness in the area if elected.

(KRON) – For the first time in 57 years, Bay Area Athletics fans will not be able to drive to the ballpark to watch the A’s play at the Oakland Coliseum. Despite lifelong fans pledging with A’s owner John Fisher to sell the team and stay in Oakland, even wearing “sell the team” shirts to games, the A’s are ultimately set to relocate to Las Vegas.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) — The ongoing Valley Transportation Authority strike, now in its third week, is headed to court in San Jose on Wednesday. The workers’ union, Amalgamated Transit Union Local 265, will explain to a Santa Clara County Superior Court judge why its strike is lawful. The VTA argues that the union cannot strike because a past contract, which expired on March 3, did not allow it in its clauses.
