    The 20-year-old son of a Leon County sheriff's deputy used his mother's gun to go on a shooting rampage on Florida State University's Tallahassee campus Thursday, killing two people and wounding six others, law enforcement officials said. The alleged shooter was himself shot and taken to a local hospital. The surviving student victims were listed in fair condition. The first reports of a shooting came in around noon, sirens wailed for about an hour afterward.

    A line of storms, with a history of spawning tornadoes, appears to have spun off a twister or two in Tallahassee as reports of damage roll in from a nasty bout of severe weather. Leon County crews are responding to reports of tree and structural damage in the northeastern part of the county. Matt Cavell, a county spokesman, said the damage was reported just east of Deerlake Middle School in the area of Deer Lake North and Buck Point Road. He said the school itself was not damaged.

    Forecasters say we’re in for a rough start to the week, with rising risks of severe weather that could include damaging wind gusts, large hail, and even the chance of a few tornadoes. On Sunday, the National Weather Service in Tallahassee upgraded Florida's capital city and areas along the I-10 corridor and north of it to a Level 3 of 5 enhanced risk for severe storms on Monday.

    Both Eastbound lanes are closed due to a "major incident" on Interstate 10 in Leon County. The wreck involving a semi-truck and a vehicle took place around 11:10 a.m. near mile marker 200 past the Monroe Street interchange. Traffic is backed up to mile marker 197. Traffic camera photos show a semi truck and dump truck in the roadway with emergency vehicles stopping a long line of traffic. The traffic jam comes as the city's annual Springtime festival brings tens of thousands to the capital city.

    Off-duty Tallahassee firefighter Tyler McAdams helped rescue a woman from a burning car. McAdams broke the passenger window with his fire helmet and ultimately helped pull the woman to safety with the help of two bystanders. Tallahassee Fire Department Chief Gene Sanders praised McAdams for his heroic actions. Another minute would have made the difference between life and death.
