AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - 12 on your side investigates digs deeper into automated speed cameras in Georgia school zones. While we’ve been digging, lawmakers have been debating. Two house bills regulating these cameras failed to make it to the governor’s desk, and could be revived during the next legislative session. We have been working to get answers for families who’ve received a citation from these cameras, and say the speed cameras aren’t always accurate.

For the past six months, the I-TEAM has been investigating Augusta’s 911 dispatching for fire stations across Richmond County. It’s raising the question: How do you know if first responders will show up when it’s you and your family calling for help?

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Hundreds of political figures are in Milwaukee for the Republican National Convention. Among them is Scott Cooper from Edgefield County, representing South Carolina. He was there last night when former President Donald Trump made his first public appearance after being shot. “We’re grateful and just having him there was an inspiration and seeing that he is well. He was very moved being there,” said Cooper.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - For months, the news has been peppered with shooting after shooting in Richmond County. And everyday people in everyday places are becoming victims. On Thursday, gunfire erupted at Augusta Mall, injuring one person and sending shoppers fleeing. And that’s not the only shooting there. A shooting there in April injured one person, and a person was killed in a shooting there in 2020.

On Tuesday, this issue was supposed to be brought up in legal. It’s behind closed doors in executive session, where we have no idea what’s talked about. Still, the I-TEAM may have found what the potential issue is.
