Construction on Portland's multi-billion-dollar water filtration site may be paused through late June as a county hearings officer determines the project’s impact on natural resources. Multnomah County first approved a conditional-use permit for the water treatment site in 2023. The $2.1 billion filtration facility allows the city to meet federal requirements to treat its water for cryptosporidium – a parasite commonly found in groundwater.

Portland Mayor Keith Wilson said the city should have discussions about paying back a North Portland real estate agent who spent more than $100,000 on city-mandated sidewalk and street corner improvements as a condition of the building permit to renovate her office. A KATU investigation found the Oregon Department of Transportation intended to upgrade the street corner in an upcoming state project along North Lombard, but the city made the business owner, Kami Price, do it anyway.
