HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WETM) – It was a tough weekend for three local boys lacrosse teams. Elmira boys lacrosse fell to Chenango Forks in a hard fought Section IV contest, while Corning and Horseheads each took losses against non-conference opponents. The Express came up short in a tightly contested, 7-5 loss to the Blue Devils. Both sides battled in a low scoring 1st half, seeing Tucker Burnett notch an early game-tying goal for Elmira.

CORNING, N.Y. (WETM) – One of Williamson High School’s best on the diamond has made his college plans official. Williamson’s Sawyer Carleton signed to continue his baseball career at Corning Community College, on Monday. The special signing day took place at Corning’s Sandlot Sports Academy, where Carleton has honed in his baseball skills for nearly a decade. The Warriors’ pitching ace was called up to varsity as a freshman and has since developed into one of the top players in the Twin Tiers.
