Before Friday night’s home opener against Jamestown at Historic Dunn Field, the Pioneers held their annual media day at Woodbrook Senior Living residence in Elmira. It was an opportunity for the players to meet with members of the senior community and usher in the 2025 baseball year.

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – The Section IV playoffs continue to march on in the region. Playoff matchups in baseball, lacrosse and girls flag football hit their respective fields Thursday night. In baseball, the Elmira Express surged past Corning in game one of the Section IV Class AAA Championship Series, 9-5, at Corning Community College. Logan Palmer hit a three-run home run in the top of the fourth inning giving the Express a 4-2 edge and they kept the lead the rest of the way.

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – The summer baseball season is almost here. In Horseheads, the Hitmen return to compete in the New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL) but at a new venue this year. Home games will be played at The Holding Point located at 190 Wygant Road in Horseheads. Last season, the Hitmen played at The Horseheads Babe Ruth Field on East Mill Street. Game one of the season is on the road next Friday, June 6 at the Hornell Steamers at 7 PM.
