Easter activities set for April 19

Along with April, Easter is hoppin’ its way into town and this year’s Easter EGGStravaganza and Bunny Love Run is sure to help capture those Easter memories. The 4th annual hunt sponsored by the Dublin Dairy Queen, Dublin Citizen and CWJC/ Transformation Pathway is partnered with a Bunny Love Run 5K and 1-mile fun run set for Saturday, April 19. Those interested in the Bunny Love Run need to register by April 1 to guarantee their T-shirts.
Cowboy Christmas rides in Saturday

Santa is coming to Dublin this Saturday and there are a slew of events to welcome him to town. Saturday, Dec. 7, the Dublin Chamber of Commerce’s Cowboy Christmas will be held downtown. It is a rain or shine event, including the parade. Starting at noon, vendors will be open, a petting zoo, bounce houses and family fun activities will take place at Celebration Park, Doublin’ In and on Grafton/Elm Street, which will be closed to traffic.

Wich Kids stacks up variety in homemade menu

A mother-daughter duo is now bringing delicious homemade sandwiches and other foods at a newly opened Dublin eatery – Wich Kids Sandwich Shop. Rachel Williams Maddry and her daughter Kailyn Williams decided to open Wich Kids inside Grafton Market (located at 118 S. Grafton, Suite C). Maddry hasn’t had an easy year as she has worked through her own battle with thyroid cancer, but she knew being surrounded by family and with good, homemade food would make things better.

A busy agenda kept Erath County Commissioners hard at work Monday, Sept. 23 as they moved through their regular agenda. As the Nov. 5 elections move closer, the commissioners approved bonds for Elections Administrator Lana Stevens and Assistant Elections Administrator Tara Arredondo. Due to their positions in the county, the new election officials are required to be bonded to ensure they perform their job duties and comply with government laws and regulations.
Back to School Fair Saturday

It has been said it takes a village and with the start of school quickly approaching the Dublin Public Library and its community partners have been hard at work preparing for the annual Back to School Fair. The event is set from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 27 at the library, 206 West Blackjack. At the fair, participants will be able to gather toiletries, socks and underwear, along with new backpacks. Free haircuts are also available donated by Blanca Lopez and Lindsey Moore.
Firework, water safety urged

This year there is no restriction on the sale of fireworks inside Erath County and fireworks will be sold through midnight on July 4. Water safety at area lakes is also advised throughout the holiday week. Currently, Erath County is also not under a burn ban due to the amount of rain the county has seen. Fire Marshal Tommy Shelton encourages everyone to be safe while utilizing fireworks and still have water handy to extinguish fireworks in case of a fire.
Sexual abuse trial underway

Court talks Operation Firewater

In a brief agenda, the Erath County Commissioners Court opened 2024 with its first agenda, full of regular items. The board received and filed an agreement between the county and Garner Park Ranch Partners, LP for a project known as Operation Firewater. County Judge Brandon Huckabee explained that this was the project that had been talked about multiple times in court. Fred Underwood has built water stations that all Erath County Fire Departments can use.
