China has released its plan to raise the statutory retirement age for male and female employees. The increase will start to gradually take effect from January 1, 2025. The ultimate retirement age set by statute will continue to be based on gender and classification as a manager or non-manager. The requisite number of years of contributions to the pension scheme will also gradually increase beginning January 1, 2030.

Abstract Although the multiple functional groups in biomass offer notable chances for producing high-value chemicals, most of the current studies focused on the (deep) defunctionalization of biomass and its derivates. Herein, we present a catalytic approach to valorize birch wood lignin with maintaining the methoxy and hydroxy groups in the final product (i.e. 2,6-dimethoxy-p-aminophenol), which has applications in different sectors such as pharmaceuticals.
