3 1/1 A musician is hoping to "start a movement" by busking for a beloved borough charity. Jimmy Kay, 44, from Little Lever, has been involved in music since he was 17, having played in bands Duffle and Tornado Fires. But in recent years, he has gone out on his own, singing and playing guitar. Jimmy had wanted to try busking "for a while" and decided to do it for charity, picking Bolton Hospice.

A classic play from the 1950s is set to be shown at a local theatre next month. Terence Rattigan's 'The Deep Blue Sea' will be shown at Bolton Little Theatre from May 17 to May 24. The 1952 play is a story of lives blighted by love, or the lack of it. Hester Collyer is discovered by her neighbours after her failed attempt to take her own life.

4 1/1 Concerns have been raised after parking on double yellow lines and buses mounting the pavement near a school. The issues have reportedly been happening at pick-up and drop-off times outside Thornleigh Salesian College in Astley Bridge. The road which leads to the school, Sharples Park, is narrow and has double yellows and zigzag lines near the school. However, worries have been aired, with parked cars in the area making the already narrow street narrower.

The burnt-out car on the park (Image: GMP) A burnt-out car has been removed from a beauty spot after it was in place for months. The vehicle was on Longsight Park, having been abandoned there "at the end of last year". Police made the decision to leave it there due to muddy ground over winter, meaning machinery would have damaged the parkland. But after warmer weather more recently, the ground firmed up and the car was able to be removed on Thursday, May 1.
