Jordan Hook, aged 29, was in a relationship with the woman throughout the majority of 2024. Hook, of Milton Close, Atherton, broke her wrist and finger, threw her down the stairs, controlled what she wore and called her abusive names, a court heard. He appeared over video link for sentencing at Bolton Crown Court on May 21.

    5 1/1 New renders of a car park which could be built at a mosque have been released. Chew Moor Methodist Church on St John's Road closed for good in 2023 after 170 years. It was then bought by developers who turned it into a mosque. In June last year, the unofficial 'village green' adjacent to the building was "torn up" by workmen, provoking concern from residents. Earlier this year, planning permission was sought for a 19 space car park to be built on that land.

    3 1/1 A public consultation has been launched on the implementation of an electric vehicle (EV) charger and double yellow lines outside a row of shops. The developments would be brought in outside the strip of stores on Highfield Road in Farnworth, which includes Co-op, Premier and more. Bolton Council granted planning permission in July last year for an EV charger and its associated infrastructure such as line markings and electrical equipment.
