Baylor continued to bolster its secondary with the commitment of Houston Christian transfer cornerback KJ Makins, he announced on social media. He has one season of eligibility remaining. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound defensive back spent the last two seasons at Houston Christian, finishing with 15 tackles, including a season-high eight stops in the loss to Southeastern Louisiana, with three pass breakups and a forced fumble as a senior last season.

The show-stopping quarterback has worn plenty of different helmets at every level of his legendary football career, but perhaps the one he is most proud of was the bright blue sticker-covered lid from his days leading the Bulldawgs. “It just means more in Texas,” Griffin said.

Former Michigan defensive lineman Alessandro Lorenzetti committed to Baylor on Friday afternoon. In three years with the Wolverines, the 6-foot-5, 285-pound senior didn’t play in a game, but was named Scout Team Offensive Player of the Week as a true freshman ahead of Michigan’s win over Michigan State in 2022. Lorenzetti has two years of eligibility left.

Jackson Goldstrich wasn’t looking for anything in particular when he walked to the plate for Midway with the game tied in the bottom of the seventh against Rockwall-Heath. “I was just looking for something I could hit, honestly,” Goldstrich said. Well, he got it. With two on and two out, Goldstrich singled to center field to give the Panthers a walk-off, 5-4 win over the Hawks in the first game of the best-of-three area round series Thursday at Midway High School.
