Executive Director Amy Hornocker joins lifelong CWS fan Zach Williamson in this edition of the Morning Lift. Hornocker serves as the key liaison between the NCAA and the City of Omaha to ensure the continued growth and execution of the CWS. She leads a team of five staff members who work year-round to bring the event to life.

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — For the third consecutive year 3 News Now's Zach Williamson will serve as the emcee for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Omaha. KMTV is also a proud sponsor of the annual event. It's a huge fundraiser in the fall raising money to support patients and their families fighting blood cancer and for lifesaving research. Two people who can speak to that lifesaving research – a patient and his oncologist – sat down with Zach to share their story.

ASHLAND, Neb. (KMTV) — The Morning Lift takes us to Ashland to pick up Lee. G. Simmons Wildlife Safari Park Deputy Director Gary Pettit. The Wildlife Safari Park has been voted the top safair park in the country in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for five consecutive years. Pettit tells us it has come a long way since the property was first purchased by Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium back in 1996. In 1996, he says it was mostly cornfields.

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (KMTV) — In 1885, Pottawattamie County built a new county jail. It wasn’t just any jail; it was a squirrel cage jail — or a rotary jail. One of just 18 ever made and one of three still standing today. It officially closed in 1969. Since then it has served as a museum. Some even consider it to be haunted.
