    A chaotic scene broke out well before dark Saturday as hundreds of black-clad protesters clashed with federal officers at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in Portland’s South Waterfront. Federal officers clad in tactical gear deployed smoke, tear gas, flash grenades and other projectiles as the restive crowd of demonstrators hurled water bottles and fireworks in return.

    A Multnomah County sheriff’s deputy shot and wounded a man in Northeast Portland Friday evening, police said. Portland police said the wounded man was taken to the hospital, and no officers or deputies were injured. The shooting took place in the 4600 block of Northeast 116th Avenue, near Prescott Street and close to Parkrose High School. Authorities are at the scene investigating the incident. Police said Northeast Sandy Boulevard is closed between Northeast 112th and 118th avenues.

    Authorities are investigating after officers found the body of a woman partially submerged in water in Milwaukie’s Minthorn North Natural Area. About 8 p.m. Tuesday, Milwaukie officers responded to a suspicious circumstance call at the 11300 block of Southeast 37th Avenue, police said. When they arrived, they found the woman’s body in the water inside of a wooded area. Police said the unidentified woman was between the ages of 25 and 35.

    Manuel Garza arrived at the Fanno Creek Medical Clinic in Southwest Portland on May 8 after having injured his knee, according to his family. He never made it inside. A confrontation in the parking lot ended with a security guard at The Gan, a preschool next door, shooting the 32-year-old to death.
