BBC Radio 1Xtra
BBC Radio 1Xtra, often referred to as 1Xtra, is a digital radio station in the UK that focuses on contemporary black music. It is owned and run by the BBC and was officially launched on August 16, 2002, at 6 PM. During its planning phase, it was known as Network X. 1Xtra is closely associated with BBC Radio 1 and shares its broadcasting space on the 8th floor of New Broadcasting House, where it also works alongside the Asian Network.
