Last weekend saw Witney Vikings U17 Wasps Girls lift the Oxfordshire FA U18 Girls Cup in a gripping final at Oxford City’s Court Place Farm. Despite missing key players through injury, the Wasps battled with everything they had against a talented Barton United U18 side.

Peter Cowling was reported missing last Friday (May 2) in a public appeal from police to help trace him. A body was discovered near Pigeons Lock in Kirtlington later that day which police said they believe to be that of Mr Cowling.

The character of Thomas the Tank Engine originated from the series of British children's books The Railway Series, which was first published back in 1945 by Wilbert Awdry.

Road closed sign (stock image) (Image: Newsquest) A series of road closures are planned throughout May as the works on an M40 slip road enters the last phases. The 'essential works' on the M40 at junction 10 have been ongoing since August 2024 and are expected to be completed this summer. The works will result in the the southbound exit slip road being widened into three lanes as it approaches the A43 Padbury roundabout.
