DULUTH, Ga. (BRAIN) — Fox Factory saw first-quarter year-over-year sales growth across its three divisions, including a 6.6% increase in sales in its Speciality Sports Group, which contains its bicycle and baseball/softball brands. Company-wide the growth exceeded estimates. The company said the growth in the SSG group was related to bike-product sales, but warned that the industry is continuing to “recalibrate” inventory and consumer demand remains a concern.

(BRAIN) — Halfway into the Trump administration's 90-day grace period, U.S. retailers and suppliers are grappling with how to account for their increased import costs. Most imported bike products are now subject to an additional 10% tariff since April when the administration announced its ”reciprocal” tariffs and then quickly reduced them to 10% for 90 days, a period that will expire around July 4.

FAIRFIELD, N.J. (BRAIN) — Kent International would likely suspendproduction at its South Carolina bike factory later this year if the Trump administration does not reduce tariffs on Chinese imports, Kent Chairman Arnold Kamler said. Kent, which dates to 1907, is one of the largest suppliers to the U.S. mass market. Since 2014, its BCA factory in Manning, South Carolina, has supplemented its imports from China and Southeast Asia.

BRADENTON, Fla. (BRAIN) — Arnold "Arni" Nashbar, the founder of Bike Nashbar, died on April 12 at his home in Florida at age 83. Nashbar, a Ohio native, had a background in advertising and design and paid his way through college airbrushing custom cars on sweatshirts and t-shirts at county fairs and car shows.
