You may well roll your eyes, but in 2023 Ducati came to market with an eMTB aimed specifically at those who watch the Moto GP on Sunday afternoons. Their marketing team made no bones about it - each part on the Powerstage RR was carefully chosen to appeal to the appetites of motorsport fans, with tires from Pirelli, suspension from Ohlins, and brakes from Braking - all brands that made a name for themselves on the asphalt, not on the dirt.

Hunt gave us a sneak peak at this ultra-light and exotic trail wheelset they're developing for the end of the year. It combines their Proven Trail carbon H-Core rims with the TaperLock UD carbon spokes used on their top-end XC and road wheels. They are aiming for a sub-1,500 g wheelset that's capable of holding up to the abuse of trail bikes with up to 160 mm travel.
Galfer's Kashima Coated Two-Piece Brake Rotor - Eurobike 2025

Given Kashima is supposed to reduce friction in suspension, putting it on a brake rotor may sound silly. But Galfer did exactly that for one of their motorcycle athletes and are doing the same for MTB. The Kashima doesn't affect the braking surface of course - just the inner part of a new two-piece rotor, called the Shark EVO V3. The floating rotor is claimed to be stiffer and more robust than Galfer's existing one-piece discs, while dealing with heat better without warping.

Anna Newkirk has confirmed via Instagram that she broke her hand during practice at the Val di Sole World Cup. Newkirk has been on impressive form this season, currently sitting 4th overall in the World Cup standings. For XC, the flex-stay variation on the linkage-driven single-pivot suspension platform has been adopted by most brands, mainstream and boutique. Removing the hardware and bearings of an articulating pivot stands to save a lot of weight, several hundreds of grams in some cases. A dwindling number push on with a standard pivot, or even with a dual short-link platform, but these tend to be heavier than the flex-stay offerings of their competitors.
