The City of Kamloops will be tabling four resolutions at this years Union of BC Municipalities Convention in September. The first calls for the province to change its threshold for when cold weather shelters can open, while the second resurrects last years motion around bullying and harassment by local elected officials asking for changes in legislation to bring elected officials under the purview of the Worker’s Compensation Act.

The City of Kamloops is demanding answers about why the Interior Health Authority has reportedly decided it’s not interested in funding a sobering centre for the city. It’s too soon to say whether a professional fireworks show will return to Kamloops for next years Canada Day celebrations, but it’s not being ruled out either. The city opted for a drone light show this year, citing concerns about dry conditions. Some 200 drones were launched from the beach at Overlanders Park as opposed to a spot on Tk’emlúps land across from Riverside Park. Kamloops Community Events Coordinator Janvi Desai says planning for the show began a month-and-a-half before Canada Day.
