Chronicle-Tribune

Chronicle-Tribune

The Chronicle-Tribune came into existence in 1968 through the merger of two newspapers: The Marion Chronicle, which began as an evening paper in 1865, and The Marion Leader-Tribune, a morning newspaper founded in 1912. Prior to the merger, both papers had already produced a joint Sunday edition under the Chronicle-Tribune name. Initially, the paper offered both morning and evening editions, but the evening edition was discontinued in 1973. In 1971, Gannett Co. acquired the newspaper.
