We see its effects in various conflicts over resources around the globe, escalating costs for food and fuel, increasing hunger, devastating natural disasters, water shortages, economic struggles, rising unemployment, social unrest, growing violations of human rights, and severe environmental damage. If we do not take immediate steps to alter our lifestyles and protect our only home, planet Earth, this crisis could potentially lead to the extinction of humanity and many other species.
