No injuries reported in Thunder Bay East End fire

Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue is reporting no injuries following a house fire in the city’s East end. Firefighters were called to the scene at 11 a.m. Saturday where they found heavy smoke and flames at the rear of the house in the 600 block of McTavish Street. A total of 6 pumper trucks, one aerial ladder truck and a command unit responded. Crew worked to knock down much of the fire and bring the situation under control. The home still suffered fire, smoke and water damage.
Stanley Cup to return to Thunder Bay

The Stanley Cup will return to Thunder Bay. Jamie Kompon, Assistant Coach of the Florida Panthers, will bring the cup home with a community event. The public will have the chance to view and have their photo taken with the Stanley Cup on Wednesday, September 11 from 3 – 5 pm at Port Arthur Stadium. This event, hosted by the City of Thunder Bay is open to all, and free to attend. Doors will open at 2:30 pm for the event.
