Anyone familiar with Buffalo’s SCIENCE MAN knows they’re far more than your average hardcore punk band. Mastermind John Toohill’s brand of maniacal and eccentric hardcore has pushed the limits of the genre in both audio and visuals, as each of the last two LP’s have been released alongside full-length video projects that add to the overwhelming and surreal experience.

Songs like “Face Off”, “Nerve Ends”, and “Reflex” had me going back for a second listen the minute the tracks ended.

Of all the regional scenes making a name for themselves in Hardcore music right now, Ohio has to be one of the most impressive. There’s a glut of good music happening there right now and a scene that is absolutely thriving. One of the newest labels to come from the area is Nerve Damage, whose first three cassettes are all rippers and totally worth checking out.
