    In the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday 2 June at 1.28am, Clogherhead RNLI was requested by the Dublin Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre to assist two sailors on a yacht with two sailors onboard that had drifted onto rocks and a shingle beach near Gyles Quay, Dundalk. The Clogherhead RNLI all-weather lifeboat launched to assess the situation where the yacht had lost engine power and was drifting onto a rocky shingle beach.

    Gardaí from the Dundalk Roads Policing Unit recently detected a car travelling at 92km/h in a 50km/h zone outside Bellurgan National School. The speeding offence was recorded shortly before the school’s finishing time. In a statement shared by Louth Garda Síochána on Facebook, officers said the driver was clocked at almost double the legal limit outside the rural primary school. Prosecution proceedings have since commenced against the driver involved.

    Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) have confirmed that a man in his 40s has died in hospital following an incident in the Edenappa Road area of Jonesborough during the early hours of Saturday, 31st May. The man had sustained serious head injuries as a result of the incident. A post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish the cause of death. It is understood the man is from the north Louth area.

Louth has dropped one rank to 2nd, with an average price of €873. Limerick has moved up one position to 3rd, with an average cost of €838. Longford ranked as the most expensive county in Ireland for car insurance, with it costing drivers an average of €1,042.
