Just days before Louth won the Leinster Championship for the first time in 68 years, Sinn Féin TD Ruairí Ó Murchú urged the government to ensure that funding is provided to the GAA stadium in Dundalk. The Dundalk TD asked Minister Charlie McConalogue to confirm that the Louth GAA stadium is on the ‘reserve list’ for the Large Scale Sports Infrastructure Fund (LSSIF), and said that it was ‘a really great time for Louth football’.

Louth County Council has taken another significant step in its commitment to climate action, introducing 20 new electric vans into its fleet and expanding the rollout of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) biofuel across its vehicle operations. Welcoming the development, Cllr John Reilly said the move marks “a practical and progressive milestone” in the Council’s drive to reduce carbon emissions and lead by example in sustainable transport.

Town Scientist, the community science initiative funded by Research Ireland and led by Dundalk native Dr Niamh Shaw will be officially launched at Dundalk Credit Union at 12pm next Thursday, 15th May. Town Scientist was piloted in Dundalk in 2024 and worked with local communities to make science more accessible and to break down barriers that often keep people from engaging with scientific topics.
