It’s a madness that has gripped many a film lover: What if I made my own movies? And so it is with Nasir Shaikh (Adarsh Gourav), a young man in the middle-of-nowhere industrial city of Malegaon, India, who helps his brother run their struggling “video parlor,” a sort of small cinema projecting VHSes of old movies. Nasir loves Keaton and Chaplin; their local audience, not so much.

You can take the bear out of London… but why the heck would you want to do that? That’s who Paddington is: a little bear in a big city, a stranger navigating a strange (to him) land. Michael Bond, who created Paddington in the 1950s and authored many books about him, never took the character far from London, and with the first two movies in this series — 2014’s Paddington and 2017’s Paddington 2 — cowriter and director Paul King remained true to Bond’s urban fairy tale.
The Brutalist movie review: red, white, and brutal

The Brutalist, about a Hungarian-Jewish architect who survives the Holocaust and rebuilds his life in postwar America, is a film as stubborn and as challenging as its protagonist. It mirrors his journey, one of trauma fueling inspiration and of struggle between art and money, between artist and patron. It is a rebuke to a collapse of customs and traditions, as its protagonist’s works are. It is as monumental as those works.
