    I was awakened early this morning by my wife informing me that Pope Francis has died. “Wow,” was my instant verbal reaction. I grabbed my bedside rosary ring and did a Divine Mercy Chaplet for his soul. It was probably the best I could muster at that moment. That was followed by a text from a friend and Vaticanista plugged into all things Francis, who watched with great alarm what has unfolded in the Catholic Church during this pontificate.

    When the House passed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act on April 10 it took a good first step toward the restoration of election integrity, assuming the Senate also passes it and President Trump signs it into law before the 2026 midterms. Nonetheless, until Congress imposes major reforms on the U.S. Census Bureau and its methods of gathering data for the constitutionally mandated census, it can’t be relied upon to produce accurate results.

That’s according to an interview St. Clair did with the Wall Street Journal, which went to press this week. But St. Clair refused. Getting the $15 million required adherence to a nondisclosure agreement that forbid her from revealing her son’s parentage.
