Inside Lacrosse

Inside Lacrosse

Inside Lacrosse was established in 1996 by Robert Carpenter, who graduated from Duke University and Vestal High School in New York. Lacrosse has always been an exciting sport, both to play and to watch. However, before Inside Lacrosse, there was no one dedicated to sharing its stories. Recognizing that fans need news and insights about the sport and its players to feel connected, Robert created Inside Lacrosse to fill that gap.

(Photo Courtesy of Saint Anselm Athletics)Tampa is No. 1. It’s perhaps overdue given the season the Spartans have put up: 13-0, the No. 2 RPI, three Top 10 RPI wins. Adelphi falling to Saint Anselm gave room for Tampa to rise into the top spot in the KANE Men's DII Rankings, a move that had been brewing as the season went on as the Spartans’ top-rated strength of schedule continued to give them big-time tests. Limestone bumps up to No. 2, and the Hawks take the 3-spot after upending the Panthers.

(Inside Lacrosse Photo: James Beaver)It wasn’t without drama, but the Top 5 teams stay put in the KANE Men’s DIII Rankings. The Jumbos beat Wesleyan in OT, and the Sea Gulls needed to come back to beat Christopher Newport. But ultimately they proved their mettle in close wins. RIT, Christopher Newport and RPI follow to make up the Top 5. Bowdoin sneaks up into the sixth spot ahead of Wesleyan, and Amherst and Gettysburg both fall a bit after losses. York is rising, up to 15.

(Inside Lacrosse Photo: Chris McNulty)Syracuse won the game. And they won the fight. The No. 7 Orange beat No. 5 Notre Dame, 14-9, in front of 11,268 fans inside the JMA Wireless Dome. It’s the biggest men’s lacrosse crowd of the season and the biggest men’s lacrosse crowd in the Dome since 2015. The win snapped Notre Dame’s seven-game win streak over ’Cuse, which featured Irish wins of 20-12, 18-11 and 18-11 in Central New York.

(Photo Courtesy of Rutgers Athletics)Rutgers has known all year what it could do. Now everyone else does. The Scarlet Knights toppled No. 2 Maryland, 8-6, Saturday in front of 2,939 fans inside SHI Stadium. It was the highest-ranked win in program history and the first time they beat Maryland in Big Ten play. They beat the Terps once in 38 prior attempts, last winning in 1980. Goalie Cardin Stoller played a masterful game.

(Photo courtesy of Yale Lacrosse on X)It would appear men's DI lacrosse is in a bit of a see-saw pattern as the drama of two week ago swung back, making last week's tame (by comparison) results feel like a thing of the past.
