    TAWAS CITY – Updated capital improvement plans (CIPs) pertaining to Tawas City’s major and local streets, as well as the water distribution system and wastewater collection system infrastructure, were approved by council members when they met on April 7. Tawas City Manager Annge Horning stated that the documents were presented to the planning commission at their April 1 meeting, and that the group took action to recommend that the city council approve the plans.

    TAWAS CITY – The Easter Bunny made a stop at Tawas Methodist Church on Saturday, April 12. The annual Breakfast with the Easter Bunny event is sponsored by Quota of Iosco and Huron Community Bank. In addition to families enjoying a tasty breakfast of pancakes, sausage, juice and milk, children were able to get their photo taken with the bunny, play games, do arts and crafts and win prizes.

OTTAWA COUNTY — After a yearlong legal battle with a far-right county commission, Ottawa County’s administrative health officer has been recognized with a statewide award for her dedication to defending the role. Adeline Hambley was awarded the 2025 Jean Chabut Health Policy Champion award in Lansing on April 9 from the Michigan Public Health Week Partnership as part of Public Health Week in Michigan.

    AuSABLE Twp. – The AuSable Township Board of Trustees held its regular meeting on Monday, April 7 at 5 p.m. Treasurer Yvette Ramsdell did not attend the meeting. During the first public comment Mike and Sheila Schraven addressed the board regarding the blighted property located at 423 Mill Street. Mike reported that he has had multiple conversations with Ron Phillips, the AuSable Township code enforcement officer, about the property.

    OSCODA – Oscoda was already a big time underdog in their home Northern Michigan Soccer League game with Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart on Friday. An early injury only hampered their bid for an upset, and the Lady Owls lost the girls soccer contest, 8-0. “They are a good team, they beat McBain Northern Michigan Christian, we did better in this game than we did (against NMC) and they are the team to beat,” head coach Ray Ruemenapp said.
