Yuma County parents and their children looking for an option to play indoors will soon have a new option as a new playground will soon open at the Children's Museum of Yuma County. Members of the Fort Yuma Rotary Club painted a room and installed padding at the museum in recent weeks. They are waiting for playground equipment that has been delayed due to supply chain issues. Fort Yuma Rotary president Juan Guzman said he expects the playground to be open in the next 30 days.

Daniel Hernandez, who is running for Congress in CD-7, which includes part of Yuma County, said someone shot at a campaign staffer's car outside his family's home in Tucson. Hernandez said the shooting took place Thursday night out the family's home, which also serves as campaign headquarters. Police responded to the scene and Hernandez said they were conducting an investigation. In a released statement, Hernandez said all in the home are safe.

Congressional candidate Adelita Grijalva was in Yuma County late last week, just days before a second scheduled Democratic primary debate. Grijalva is, of course, running for the seat in Congress for Arizona District 7, which covers Arizona from Tucson to Yuma and beyond. Her father the late Congressman Raúl Grijalva held the seat for more than 20 years. Adelita Grijalva says that she is proud to share his last name but that she is her own public servant.
