    Shropshire Council has said capital grants are available for improvements to target vacant buildings in market town conservation areas. The grants are between £2,000 and £10,000, and can be applied for by commercial landlords of eligible properties that have been vacant for two years. They must intend to lease or rent out the property, and must not sell it within two years of receiving the grant.

    West Mercia Police officers were called to the Co-Op in Foldgate Lane, Ludlow, at around 3.45am on Saturday, June 21, after a cash machine was stolen in a raid at the premises. Councillor Andy Boddington described "significant damage" to the front entrance and porch and said the incident was "bad news" for staff and the community. "It is a community store where staff greet people with smiles and often know people by name," he said. "The hard-working staff and owners don’t deserve this.

    Pupils from the school have won the English Schools Football Association (ESFA) under 14s small schools cup. This is the first time in the school's history that it has won a national sporting event. The team beat Truro School 2-1 in the final at the Hawthorns Stadium, home of West Bromwich Albion. The competition started in September and consisted of seven rounds.
