Lusaka Times
LT is an online news platform that encourages users to engage in open discussions about current events in Zambia. The concept for Lusakatimes originated from a casual chat among friends in 1998. The following year, in 1999, this idea came to life with the launch of Lusaka Information Dispatch, supported by initial funding from the Dutch IICD, which covered equipment and operating costs for a limited time. Unfortunately, the operational model for Information Dispatch was challenging to maintain, leading to its suspension in 2002 after several key members left the team. In January 2007, the site was reintroduced under the new web address, lusakatimes.com, with a revamped operational approach. Currently, Lusakatimes operates with a team of individuals located around the globe, working collaboratively in an open-source manner. Driven by passion and a desire to deliver factual news to Zambians everywhere, our daily news is sourced from reputable Zambian outlets such as Zambia Daily-Mail, Times of Zambia, ZNBC, and ZANIS. We proudly acknowledge these established publications as the foundation of our work.
