National Herald India

National Herald India

Founded in 1938 as a daily newspaper, the National Herald was a key player in the Indian Freedom Movement, initiated by Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru. Its masthead featured a powerful message penned by Nehru himself: "Freedom is in peril, Defend it with All Your Might." The publication reflected Nehru's vision and the core values of the Freedom Movement, aiming to create a modern, democratic, fair, and socially cohesive nation free from communal conflict. Even in the years following independence, the National Herald and its sister publications, including Navjivan in Hindi and QAUMI AWAZ in Urdu, voiced strong support for building a peaceful society rooted in rational thinking and scientific understanding, principles championed by its founder.
