News Democrat & Leader

The News-Democrat & Leader is a bi-weekly newspaper located in Russellville, Kentucky. It has a long history, having been in circulation since 1806, which is just fourteen years after Kentucky achieved statehood. Russellville serves as the county seat for Logan County. The current newspaper's name came about through the merger of two previous publications, The Logan County News and The Democrat, in 1911. In 1968, a group of employees from the News-Democrat launched a new paper named The Logan Leader. However, just a few months later, this publication was absorbed back into the original company. For some time, the newspapers were issued under different titles each week, but in the 1990s, they consolidated under the unified name of News-Democrat & Leader.
