    I am always amused by people who only drink bottled water. I have drunk water from the tap my entire life, and I grew up in a place where the primary water supply was the muddy Mississippi River at Rock Island, Ill. That river was gross. I recall going to the water treatment plant and watching the water go from the river intake to the water pipes. It all seemed to be a very arcane process. Still, I never doubted drinking the treated river water.

    Denver’s Regional Transportation District, or RTD, is cracking down on riders of the light rail lines who are hopping on without buying a ticket. Denver City Council member Flor Alvidrez asked RTD Director Michael Guzman about the freebie rider problem Tuesday during the Land Use, Transportation, and Infrastructure Committee of the Denver City Council. He said RTD is aware of it and is doing random checks of fares on all lines.

    Demolition: Officials with the Building and Zoning Department in St. Albans say the city continues with its effort to demolish dilapidated structures within the municipality. “To date, we’ve successfully removed over 40 dilapidated structures throughout St. Albans,” Marshall Chaney, head of St. Albans’ Building and Zoning, said in a statement.
