Rangers golf holds steady at second in league

As the golf season winds down, the Nordhoff High School boys team continues to make strides within the Citrus Coast League. League competition includes Channel Islands, Fillmore, Hueneme, Malibu and Santa Paula. Carpinteria High School typically competes within the CCL, though they didn’t have enough players for a team this year. The Rangers are in second place after the first four league matches to date, holding just below first-place Malibu.

On April 9, the Casitas Municipal Water District Board of Directors voted 5-0 to reject all bids for the Matilija Groundwater Supply Project’s pilot well drilling on Casitas property near the Robles Fish Passage Facility. In 2022, the project received a $3.6 million grant from the California Department of Water Resources’ Urban Community Drought Relief Program.

Ojai Unified trustees unanimously approved the sale of the remaining $13 million in Measure K bonds to finance the new Nordhoff aquatic center and stadium, among other projects, at their April 16 meeting. Voters approved a total of $45 million through Measure K in 2020.

Off-duty deputies arrested after apparent domestic incident

Two off-duty Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies were arrested and placed on administrative leave following an apparent domestic incident in Camarillo, authorities said. On March 30, shortly after midnight, two male deputies were involved in an incident at the El Rey Cantina, 2302 Ventura Blvd., in which a security guard intervened and sustained injuries, according to a news release from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
