Southern Californians could see temperatures approaching 100 degrees for the first time this spring over the weekend, forecasters said. The warming trend is due to a strengthening area of high pressure expected to remain in place over California through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Oxnard. “Temperatures well above normal will develop away from the coast with the hottest days likely either Friday (May 9) or Saturday (May 10),” the NWS stated.

Both shows are 3 p.m. matinees. An Ojai mother and her three daughters recently captured the passage of time, sharing a special side-by-side moment at a place they hadn’t visited together in more than four decades. Christine Gilchrist grew up in Sulphur Springs, Texas. In 1960, she graduated from Nordhoff High School, later raising three daughters, all Nordhoff graduates. As the girls were growing up, Christine would take them on drives around the valley while sharing stories and memories from when she was their age.
