In a news release published today, the Emergency Operations Centre said the slide occurred at about 9:45 pm last night. The road remains closed in both directions. “We expect emergency crews will be released later today, and the site will be turned over to the Ministry of Transportation,” said Sally Ginter, director of the Emergency Operations Centre.

    Penticton City Council has confirmed that it has received additional interim funding to support the temporary winter shelter on Warren Avenue for another two months. The funding was confirmed for April and May, a news release from the city said. According to the news release, the city met with BC’s Minister of Housing and Municipal Affairs, Ravi Kahlon, last week to discuss encampment, shelter and housing solutions in Penticton.
