    A BC teacher has been reprimanded by the provincial commissioner for “inappropriate conduct” that put students’ emotional well-being at risk. A consent agreement between the BC Commissioner for Teacher Regulation and Brigitte Lépine was published on Tuesday. A summary of the agreement said the issues happened while Lépine was employed as a teacher on call by School District 43 in Coquitlam in September 2021.

    People in the South Okanagan are being advised that a local emergency department will be temporarily closed Wednesday night. Interior Health says the South Okanagan General Hospital in Oliver will close at 5 pm Wednesday. It is scheduled to reopen at 7 am on Thursday. Anyone needing emergency care is being advised to travel north to the Penticton Regional Hospital.

    A development group eyeing a property on Bernard Avenue now wants to add the rental-only subzone onto their project. In October 2023, SKJJ Bernard Land Holdings secured the MF3 – Apartment Housing zone. In April 2024, they secured their development permit for 1181-1191 Bernard Avenue. Now, the developers say the rental-only subzone will “better reflect the long-term vision” for the project.

    The City of Kamloops is hosting its annual auction next week to get rid of unclaimed items acquired by the City and the RCMP as well as old city-owned equipment. Up for auction this year includes a 2007 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck, bicycles, power tools, office equipment, and much more. “In recent years, our annual auction has become an effective tool for managing City assets,” said Ray Sison, the City’s Purchasing and Inventory Control Manager.

    Spring is here and that means another season of the Kamloops Farmers’ Market. This marks the 48th season of the outdoor market and it is sure to have something for everyone. The market returns on Saturday April 19 and will run every week, rain or shine, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm until the end of October. The market will be set up on St. Paul Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenue.
