Central Okanagan teachers will probably avoid layoffs, but those retiring may not be replaced. Central Okanagan Teachers Association president Susan Bauhart, has spent the weekend looking at the numbers. "It just came out Friday," she said. "I don't have all the details yet." But her early take may be of some comfort to teachers and the school communities that value them.

The candidates took time out of their campaigns and spent some time with KelownaNow to give you a chance to get to know them better. First elected in 2019 and re-elected in 2021 for the Conservatives, entrepreneur and former city councillor Tracy Gray relies on a good ground game in her campaigns. That means she knocks on a lot of doors, even when there isn't an election going on.

There are going to be some big detours for people to access the Westside Road area. A section of the road, about 50 metres in length, has been swept away by a landslide, cutting off traffic in both directions. The slide came down just after 9:30 last night. It came down between Browse Road and Bear Creek Trail. That's about a three-minute drive north of the former Lake Okanagan Resort.

With the new federal election riding boundaries, incumbent Member of Parliament Dan Albas finds himself explaining that to many residents of Okanagan Mission and South Kelowna who are just learning that he's running to represent them.
