The Almanac Online serves as the local news and information hub for the communities of Menlo Park, Atherton, Portola Valley, and Woodside, which are all situated on the Midpeninsula just south of San Francisco. Their website, www.AlmanacNews.com, offers regular news updates, a discussion area known as Town Square where residents and visitors can share thoughts and information on various topics, and additional resources aimed at connecting people with details about community events and services.

    Outgoing seniors shared heartfelt stories — tied to current hot button issues — before they walked across the stage with nearly 500 other graduates to accept their diplomas Friday, June 6, at Menlo-Atherton High School. The ceremony, held on Coach Parks Field, marked the Atherton high school’s 74th commencement. One student speaker, Rose Klingsporn, talked about their personal growth from freshman to senior year, including coming out as transgender.

Trips north up 280 or 101 mean catching glimpses of the Flintstone House and “South San Francisco The Industrial City” on the hillside, two of my favorites as a Peninsula native.
