A Vidalia woman had all three local law enforcement agencies and Georgia State Patrol working together Thursday and landed herself in the Toombs County Detention Center. Toombs County Sheriff Jordan Kight said while in in the courthouse, 28-year-old Destany Gilchriest began acting irrationally and Rosa Morales, an advocate for The Refuge Domestic Violence Shelter, was asked to speak to her. Morales called EMS and EMTs assessed the woman but Gilchriest refused to be transported by ambulance.

Mrs. Lillian “Lil” Fore, of Glenwood, passed away on her 75th birthday, Friday, June 20, 2025; at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital following a sudden illness. She was a southern lady with grace, style, class, and a lot of sass that was born in Florida and spent most of her life traveling back and forth between there and Georgia. Lillian was a horsewoman that rode with many clubs throughout the years, enjoyed raising greyhounds, and watching birds.

Mrs. Bonnie Wilson Stanford, age 71, of Lyons, died Thursday, June 26, 2025, at her home after sudden illness. She was a native of Toombs County, living in Lyons most of her life, and she was a 1971 graduate of Lyons Senior High School. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Lyons Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed yard sales, crafting, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and pageants.

Born on March 1, 1948, in Moultrie, GA, Diane grew into a woman whose presence was a beacon of warmth in the lives of everyone she touched. A celebration and memorial to Diane’s life will be held at Ronald V.
