The Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office is performing an investigation after a call to which they were dispatched Thursday appears to be fraud.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, around 6:37 Thursday morning deputies responded to Wilson Road and GA 92 Spur in Twin City where they found a vehicle riddled with bullet holes with bullet casings surrounding the automobile. Investigators determined that the scene was staged, and that the vehicle was unoccupied at the time the shots were fired.

Ms. Suzanne “Suzie” Sasser Brannon, age 66, of Dublin, died Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, after an extended illness. She was a native of Saint Augustine and lived most of life in Florida before moving to Georgia in 1989. Suzie was a bookkeeper for various companies and attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Dublin. She loved crafts, was an exceptional writer, and her grandchildren were the light of her life.

A Lyons man was quickly apprehended Monday afternoon after he allegedly attempted to kidnap Kamryn Lynn as she and her brother Kelton were playing outside. Lyons Chief of Police Wesley Walker said, “Around 4:00, the children were playing in the yard when a man came up and grabbed the little girl and put his hand over her mouth and told her not to scream.

Mr. Michael Irvin “Mike” Shephard, age 73, of Vidalia, died Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia following an extended illness. He was a native of Glynn County, growing up in Brunswick and was a 1969 graduate of Glynn Academy. He was a Marine veteran of Vietnam. He was a truck driver and worked with Best Line, Jerry Lynn Trucking, and Herndon Farms. He was a member of Cornerstone Church in Kibbee, and he enjoyed people and talking.

A federal jury convicted a Mexican national illegally living in Hazlehurst, Georgia at trial for receiving a package from Jalisco, Mexico containing over two kilograms of 100% pure methamphetamine.
Ismael Delgado-Celis, 37, of Mexico, was convicted of Possession and Attempt to Possess with Intent to Distribute 500 grams or more of Methamphetamine following a jury trial in the Southern District of Georgia, said Tara M. Lyons, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia.

Some Vidalia High School students got a rare opportunity recently when the Georgia Department of Public Safety’s 18-wheeler simulator pulled up near the student parking lot.
Trooper Gillis oversees the operation of the simulator, and said, “We take this simulator around to the schools so that students can get a realistic experience in driving before they get behind the wheel of an actual vehicle.

The Vidalia Police Department is seeking the community's assistance in locating the missing female in the picture above. Her name is Marlee Lola Heasman. She is a 16 year old from Gibsonton, Florida, who went missing during the Vidalia Onion Festival. Ms. Heasman was last seen at the carnival hosted by Modern Midways. Ms. Heasman is described as 5'02" wearing a white shirt, black leggings, and black/white Nike shoes.
