    Police are appealing for information after a car was vandalised in Grantown. Damage was caused to the window and bodywork of a red Mazda CX5 parked on the town’s Dulaig Crescent. The incident occurred some time between 9.30pm on Tuesday 27 May and 3.30pm the next day.

    Grantown is celebrating the formal legal withdrawal of the Highland Council’s plan to charge the public for use of the market square in the town. At Inverness yesterday the Sheriff Court discharged the case in favour of the Grantown Community Council. The move follows the withdrawal of the local authority's petition reported by the Strathy last week. Sheriff Eilidh MacDonald said it had been ‘a difficult, complex and novel case’.

The couple ran the award-winning business for 23 years - that was until last Wednesday (May 28). The new friendly face behind the counter is Kim Dixon. The Woolseys said the past week has been a whirlwind.

    A new female snow leopard has proved elusive since arriving at the Highland Wildlife Park at the start of May. So elusive in fact that staff at the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland attraction have just managed to get photos of her. The RZSS is hoping Pari will help produce a future generation of a species which is becoming increasingly rare. She turns two later this summer and has joined the resident male, Koshi, following her arrival from Stuttgart’s Wilhelma Zoo in Germany.

    The Cairngorms Youth Local Action Group (Youth LAG) is celebrating two major milestones as it surpasses £100,000 in support for over 100 projects across the Cairngorms National Park. Building on this success, a new £25,000 youth-focused funding pot is now open for applications, continuing the group’s mission to empower local young people. The Youth LAG fund has supported a wide range of projects since its launch in 2021.
