A new £10 million cement terminal at the Port of Workington has been opened. Thomas Armstrong Group’s facility on the Prince of Wales Dock site is designed to handle imported cement and other powders and features a 20,000-tonne storage capacity across two silos. The project has doubled the storage capacity with the design nominated for the 2024 UK Trimble Tekla Awards. New weighing and automation technology means a 44-tonne lorry can be loaded in less than 10 minutes, cleanly with no wastage.

A year ago today I was privileged to be on an exclusive 6am pre-opening media tour of the Sistine Chapel. Outstanding experience to be in there with just a handful of us. This is THE key to the door. I bet it's not being given to journos for photo opps today! #Conclave2025 https://t.co/hGF5b8H0oL
