The Blood-Horse

The Blood-Horse is a weekly magazine that covers news related to horse racing, published by Blood-Horse Publications. It started in 1916 as a monthly bulletin from the Thoroughbred Horse Association. In 1935, the American Thoroughbred Breeders Association acquired the publication. From 1961 until 2015, it was owned by the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association, a non-profit dedicated to supporting Thoroughbred racing and breeding. In 2015, The Jockey Club became the majority owner of The Blood-Horse.

Over the last 12 years, Forbidden Apple spent his retirement alongside other former racehorses under the care of TRF Second Chances at Lowell in Ocala. "He was a farm favorite, spoiled and adored," the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation posted on X. "He passed just after turning 30.

    A $8.5 million sterile New World screwworm fly dispersal facility in South Texas, along with a comprehensive protection plan, will be used to combat the risk of NWS spreading into the United States, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L.     Mirroring contentious votes from two prior California Horse Racing Board meetings, the CHRB again chose during its monthly meeting June 19 not to award race dates this year in Northern California. Bids from the Fresno County Fair to conduct racing at Fresno and from the Humboldt County Fair to run at Ferndale both failed with four commissioners opposed to awarding dates and three in favor. Fresno had requested seven dates: Sept. 19-21, 26-28, and Oct. 1.
